Our Strengths
The Institute has emerged as a major International Centre for Freshwater Aquaculture, with potentials and capabilities of offering consultancies and advisory services to the world aquaculture community. They could be in aspects of research, education, training, establishment of laboratories, hatcheries and farms on a turn-key basis. The important technologies of freshwater aquaculture on which CIFA offers consultancies are as follows:

 

  • Multiple carp breeding and hatchery management.
  • Carp seed production.
  • Semi-intensive carp culture.
  • Intensive carp polyculture for 10-15 t/ha/yr.
  • Aquatic biofertilization and organic farming.
  • Breeding and culture of freshwater catfish, magur (Clarias batrachus) and singhi (Heteropneustes fossilis).
